Update to previous post

An update to My future, or the next 5 years at least:

So much has changed now. I'm not sure exactly what to do anymore. One thing is for certain though, I'm going to take my LSAT, apply to all the law schools I'm interested in attending. Once I get notifications about my admittance I will have a lot to think about.

John didn't get the job through OWU. I still haven't heard back about the OWU Admissions position. But aside from all that, Dad's illness has added a huge consideration to the list. Staying close would be ideal if something happens. But at the same time, I don't want to give up on any opportunities.

Here is the list of law schools as it stands, in no particular order:

  • UC Davis (California)
  • Yale Law (Connecticut) It's always been on the list.
  • Columbus School of Law, Catholic University (DC)
  • George Washington (DC)
  • Ave Maria School of Law (Florida)
  • University of Georgia (Georgia)
  • Loyola University New Orleans (Louisiana)
  • Tulane University (Louisiana)
  • LSU (Louisiana)
  • Harvard University (Massachusetts) It's always been on the list.
  • Michigan State University (Michigan)
  • Columbia University (New York)
  • Cleveland Marshall, Cleveland State (Ohio)
  • Capital University (Ohio)
  • Ohio Northern University (Ohio)
  • University of Akron (Ohio)
  • Penn State (Pennsylvania)
  • University of Pennsylvania (Pennsylvania)
  • William and Mary (Virginia)

I know it's a long list, but it'll get whittled down over the next month or so. But that's where I stand. Also, I have to keep my options open...

Edit 10-02: Removed two schools leaving 17 on the list. Will spend one day next week looking up admissions requirements and scholarship information for the others to further narrow the list. I'm thinking about 8 schools will be good to apply to. Especially since it gets expensive to send LSAT scores.

Edit 10-07: Removed three more schools. It's getting smaller. Still aiming for around 8 schools in total. Will be taking the LSAT on December 5 down at OSU. Hoping for a new room/seat/proptor. Or maybe, third times the charm... Need to start the gathering of information process now.

Edit #2 10-07: Narrowed down to 10 schools now. Total application fee at the moment $475. One great thing is the fact that all the schools use the LSDAS so I just have to submit one set of everything basically. Just fill out numerous applications... As it stands, my applications in total (including LSAT and LSDAS) will set me back $728. Thankfully I have one more batch of student loan money coming...

Edit 10-12: Took out two more. UGA is a maybe at this point, still going to apply, but it's a maybe. Thankfully it's not going to cost a whole lot since the remaining schools waive the application fee if I go through the LSDAS. I'm thinking of applying as soon as I get my results back, ie as close to February 1 as possible (deadline for Harvard and Loyola).

Edit 11-11: Registered for the LSAT on December 5. Results will be available on January 3. As soon as I get the results, I'm getting the LSDAS and applying to schools. I'm aiming to have all applications in by my birthday. That reminds me, I should start working on my personal statements...

Edit 04-17: Completed all applications. Set to Tulane, Loyola, Cleveland Marshall, Indiana University (not on the list originally), and Capital. Heard back that my application is under review at Tulane, Loyola, Cleveland Marshall, and Capital. All decisions should be made by May 1. I don't think I can wait any longer...

Edit 06-21: I have heard back from four of the five schools. Not accepted anywhere. I'm not discouraged. This means I have to get my apps in early this fall. I'm not giving up.
