What the crap?
Went to file for disability benefits through social security for my father earlier this evening. Sadly missed the window by a minute. Not for any reasons that are my fault (filing too late after the initial incident, etc). Nopes. Social security has hours during the week in which you can apply online. For example, you can only apply on Sundays between the hours of 8 am and 10 pm. What the crap? It's an online system. The application goes to where ever you designate them to go (email accounts usually) until you can get to them. I can understand hours to a point in case you run into a problem or something so you can get a hold of someone. But even that doesn't make sense since SS offices are only open until 6 pm I think (I need to check that...). This is just rediculous. Monday through Friday the site is available from 5 am to 1 am. I mean seriously, why have hours? It's a damn website application. Once the form is filed (submitted) it's still going to be forever before a decision is made. Especially since an over whelming majority of claims are denied the first time and have to be appealed, taking years in most cases. It makes no sense....
I'm aggravated, but slightly amused at this whole thing.
