My Future, or the next 5 years at least

s things are going right now, it seems I am stuck here in Ohio for at least the next few years. I'm almost done with my MBA. I'm starting my third to last quarter on Sunday. It's so close and I need to start thinking about my thesis. I have ideas, but I really don't know what I actually want to do for it. I'll continue to think about it...

Once I'm done in March the idea is to get things together for law school. Yes I am addicted to school. As long as I'm in school I can defer my loan payments. So it's a win that way. Not so much the fact that I'm adding a few hundred thousand dollars more to the debt. I sort of plan on always staying in school at least part time. Eventually the government writes it off... Anyway, I digress...

My idea is to go to Capital University next fall for law school. It's a good one, fairly cheap and easy to get into. The fact that I have a masters will help my case since I don't have the best grades from Ohio Wesleyan. I have to take the LSAT one more time. That's another $180 I will be giving to the law school admissions testing people. It will be the third and final time I take it. Once my loan comes in, I'll register for my usual December test date down at Ohio State. I wonder if I'll get the same seat in the same room with the same prompter as the last two times... Capital has a night program that I'll do so I can continue to work. That means I'll need a car (damn law school is getting more and more expensive) to get there and back. But I can finish the program in the normal 3 year time span.

I have to do really well in it since the LL.M. program I want to get into is uber exclusive. Admiralty law is so specialized that there is only one program in the United States. Thankfully it's located in my favorite place... Tulane University's law school is the only school that offers the program. It's so hard to get into. I'll have to network my ass off while I'm getting my J.D. to get in there. But once I get in, I'm staying in New Orleans for good. I'm even thinking about getting my SJD (Doctorate in Judicial Sciences) after I finish LL.M. since Tulane has that program as well. There are only a hand full of SJD programs in the states. And it's not surprising that Tulane has it, since they are the oldest law school in the US.

I figure three more years here in Ohio and then I'm NOLA bound, which is where I really want to be. I just need to get a better job. And is it sad that I'm really wishing John gets this one job he's applied for just because I want him to stay here with me. I don't think it's selfish though. He deserves this job. They just need to move and hire him. He's planning on staying here for five years if he gets it. I don't want to be here that long...Three years is enough time for me to finish law school, then I'm gone...
