Fun things

One of the most amazing things I have seen in recent years is this popularity contest being conducted by Craig Ferguson on the Late Late Show. He started a while ago doing the preshow introduction with a puppet. Kronos the monkey was a huge hit. Slowly more puppets started making an appearence on the show. Including performing as back up dancers to Craig's lip syncing. Viewers started sending in puppets, causing the show's staff to get a crate to hold them all in. The crate sits under Craig's desk so he has them available if needed.

As randomly as they started, they stopped. For a couple weeks, Craig went back to the old intros. The puppets were no longer being used. This happened after a fine was incurred by CBS for a stunt he did with a dinosaur puppet. He talked about it for weeks, even filling out the paperwork required. He wanted to hold a lit sparkler in the dinosaurs mouth as part of the intro. When he did it, it was completely amazing. Saddly, the puppet was not flame retartent and the show was fined. The puppets went on leave.

After many letters, the puppets made their triumphant return. New puppets were being used and more letters started coming in requesting certain puppets. Some even strongly opposed some puppets. This caused Craig to start the Late Late Show popularity contest. Currently the top six puppets are:
Pig 46% [ 16048 ]
Mahmoud Amadinnajacket 21% [ 7288 ]
Penguin 6% [ 2269 ]
Sheep Dog 3% [ 1012 ]
Shark 24% [ 8256 ]
Waving Crocodile 0% [ 93 ]

Here's a link to the company that makes the majority of the puppets for the show. On it you can find some of the clips http://www.folkmanis.com/latelateshow.php

Newest letter: Dear Craig, What would happen if the winning puppet wants to leave the show?
Craig's answer: They will probably want to leave the show. Get their own publicist. And eventually have their own show on CBS in the 10 pm time slot.
