Changes
Today, as I'm nearing the end of 1 month of this workout challenge, I did a variety of tests. The results have confirmed some things as well as surprised the crap out of me. The first test was a fitness test in this month's Women's Health. This test confirmed my awesome core and lower body strength, as well as my flexibility and balance. I have to work on my upper body. No surprise there.
The surprising facts came in when I did a body fat tape-measure test. It's not as accurate as a water immersion body fat test, but it's really close. The result shock me, but at the same time confirmed what I had been experiencing. This also changes the weight goal. According to this test, I have 25% body fat. My actual body fat could be anywhere from 22-28%. So according to the chart about body fat comparisons, I'm just above what is considered normal body fat for Caucasian women. Granted it doesn't list age groups, but considering my age, I'd say it's accurate for my age group.
The reason this changes my weight goal is the fact that I'm already at 138 pounds of lean muscle, according to my results of this test. Getting to the 130 weight goal is not going to happen unless I sacrifice this muscle, which I'm never going to do. I'm changing my view of this whole thing starting now. I'm fit and need to work on my upper body and I'm going to concentrate on changing the look of my body and not the weight aspect. If I stay around 160 to 170 weight wise, I'll be happy in that aspect as long as I meet a different aspect of my goal which I haven't really discussed here. I would like to be a size 6 or 8. By lowering my body fat percentage and changing my muscle tone, I should be able to reach that.
